
March 16, 2011 - Five days after the earthquake and tsunami hit Otsuchi City, everything has no traces of existence: houses and cars were washed away by the tsunami wave which traveled up to 10 km from the shore of Tohoku region, Northeast Japan.
On March 11, an earthquake of 9.0 magnitude hit 72 km from the shore of Tohoku, triggering the extremely powerful tsunami waves of up to 37.9 meters, that struck at least seven prefectures and resulted in approximately 13,500 deaths and almost 15,000 missing, which the death toll still rising to this date.
